In
about 400 pages and with 96 photographs the author tells the
story of her mother, Pearl Hill whose life embraced almost a
century of turbulent times.
Winsome, compassionate, with a down-to-earth faith, Pearl
maintained a keen interest in the world about her. Her story is
embedded in that big picture- she mended hankies in the Great
Depression, empathised with the King's stammer and the Flying
Doctor’s impossible dream, had a close encounter with Skylab and
marvelled at the Gogo Station’s fossil fish.
Pearl grew up in Katanning and went as a bride to Cranbrook.
Much of the history of the Great Southern was hers too. She
maintained always her love for the country.
